Each one of the fifteen paintings from which these Digital prints are produced depicts a fa\u00e7ade with a door. They each have a name with an imaginary address, \u201c19 rue du Nil Vert \u00e0 Louxor\u201d, for the first one, that was edited in June 2018.<\/p>\n

Each one has its own story. This one is after returning from a trip to Egypt, most all all with the memory of working on copies of wash drawings from original editions in books dating from the Napoleonic campaign in Egypt in the library of the Acad\u00e9mie Royale des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles<\/em> (Royal Academy of Arts in Brussels). I began studying architecture when this discipline was still governed by the \u201csystem des Beaux-Arts\u201d that imposed making copies from Antiquity and minute drawings in Indian ink on paper. May 1968 arrived soon after, with my active participation and to my great relief, to break this rigid system. In hindsight, I realise to what point this education affected my imagination. I think the least I can do is acknowledge what I owe to the \u201csystem des Beaux-Arts\u201d by making a reference to the fertile and mysterious period of the discovery of Ancient Egypt.<\/p>\n
